  • My Wiki doesnt show up in searches 1. Google search results are based on how much traffic has gone to a particular site. The more hits, the closer to the top of the results list a site gets. Very little traffic to a site, is going to push that site to the end of the results list making it almost difficult to find.
    2. You may try to follow the instructions on this page and sub-pages to optimize the search functions

    http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Advanced+SEO

    3. Sending links to your website, should always bring the user to your site, unless the link copied or pasted is incomplete.

    4. The best way to find your site is to set the search attributes as such.
Name or topic of your site plus wetpaint.com

    e.g.
    instructions wetpaint.com

This will certainly bring up any wetpaint wiki with "Instructions in the content of the wiki

    5. General idea of your site name
    e.g. ads wetpaint.com

This will bring up any wetpaint site that has ads in it. Including "wpads.wetpaint.com"

    6. You can even limit your search to only Wetpaint sites in Google by typing "site:wetpaint.com keyword"
Just replace "keyword" with whatever you are looking for.

  • Header addition That's essentially what the site description is for. Site name, site description, headers, sub-heads, keywords, etc., are all elements that are crawled by the search engines.

  • not showing up in wetpaint search results
"do i have to somehow make my wetpaint site go live?
when i do a "Search This Site" from within wetpaint, the results come up empty.
i use my keyword in my page title and frequently throughout the site so i would assume my page would be included in the search results.
how do i get my site indexed by the wetpaint search feature?"
I like you have tried every combination to find my site. Even putting in the full site name and the results were always the same..no results found. When I used a tag or keyword, my results found those sites on the Fandex list and pages on Wetpaint Central. but not my site.

So, I think your site has to reach the Top 100 listed sites on the Main Wetpaint Page. or you can read this page for SEO information

    http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Advanced+SEO

If you want to search for a site, the only way you may possibly find it is via a Google Search by typing in keywords, or name or subject followed by "Wetpaint.Com"

  • Our wetpaint fan site The way search engines work is by the number of hits a site receives in a period of time. The more popular sites will go to the top of the search results list. A less popular site will be at the very bottom of the list or not even make the list.
You site is only 2 months old and with 10 members. The probability of someone finding your site via a search is very limited.

    Some suggestions
Expand your keyword tags more than what they are right now. Tags like twitter, youtube or even wetpaint are not going to help with searches on those terms. Each of those terms will bring millions of results per search. Be more specific with your site as far as keyword tags.

Look towards SEO search engine optimization. Read through this material on this page and subpages

    http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Tips+for+A+Successful+Site

And as the movie line from Field of Dreams states "If you build it, they will come" Have patience, and your membership will grow if the guidelines set forth are followed.

  • Wetpaint - Serious Urgent So, are there no remedies for offensive ads or offensive wikis that are automatically linked to my site?

As an example, in my current "Top Wetpaint Sites" I have a site called "F*** your Jesus, and race". Of course, it is not edited - it displays the full F-Bomb. The website address is www.f***yourjesus.com. (On a sidenote - it is interesting that the site isn't, in fact, a wetpaint wiki but it shows under my wetpaint sites)

Now that site is just about offensive to anyone. For me, my wiki is religious themed, promoting Christianity. I can't have people visiting my site and seeing that garbage.

In the google ads I am consistently seeing ads for things that I don't want on my site. This is a family friendly site and yet there are ads for webcam chat rooms and finding sexy singles.

I understand the need to leverage Google ads to recoup the cost for running the servers. However, there has to be a better way to filter the ads that come up. For example, blocking anything with the word "sex" would be a great place to start for those of us with family themed wikis.

  • I'm Confused. Someone help! There are lot's of ways. You can just tell your site name here and describe what's it about. You can invite your friends, tell them to invite their friends, and so on. Send messages to people you know and stuff like that.

  • Please tell us what you think...
"How do you change the names and links on navigator bar?"
click 'more tools' at the top of the page and select 'rename page' - that will change the names in the left hand nav panel for wiki pages. Except the home page which is always named home in the nav bar.
