More formatting options
I find that the formatting options are too limiting. Adding more fonts, colors and the option of editing the Page Names and the tool bar at the top of homepage would really enhance the wetpaint wiki.

Formatting lost when pasting in Internet Explorer 7
To solve this problem get them to use "spacer GIFs". http://splats.wetpaint.com/page/Managing+Blank+Lines+On+Your+Page
You'll also find information on "spacer GIFs" on the Tip of the Day Archives" (http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Tip+of+the+Day+Archives) page, along with other useful tips to use on a wiki.

Page Layout Changes
I cannot believe I am the only one thinking "outside the box" or should I say boxes. The fixed width page format is nothing. Most of you have missed the point. The fixed width page is a pre-requisite for the new page layout. If you are complaining now about your content not looking right in the space provided now ( 761 pixels wide ), wait til you have to divide your content into two boxes. One box is 650 pixels wide and the other to the right of that are is 300 pixels wide.
The changes coming are sure to come. So what to do now! 1. If your screen resolution is higher than 1024 X 768, change the screen resolution to 1024 X 768 and adjust all page content so there is no horizontal scrolling. Then set your screen resolution back to your preferred setting. 2. If you do not do this now, when the 1024 fixed width change rolls out, you will not be able to get to the content that extends beyond the right border. It will not be viewable to retrieve.
For more information please see this page on Wetpaint Central

For a detailed look at some conceptual examples of what a page with content will look like for the new page layout, please go here.

Splats2 was dead on the money in producing a conceptual look at the new page layout 3 days before the Wetpaint's layout diagram was posted here. The specifications were given in a thread by Wetpaint.

New Page Layout
Considering the measurements of the elements on the TV Fandex fit exactly to the New Page Layout figures given on this page. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Page+Formatting+Tips. Does that hint that we will be able to add a background image to our pages similar to the TV fandex? I am not asking whether or not that is the new layout, which I think it most certainly is. I am asking about the ability to add a background image.

problem with spacing between lines of text on a page
Thanks for the tip. A colleague suggested (after looking at the html) I clear all the formatting codes, as I'd copied some text from MS Powerpoint file. That fixed things too.

How do you...?
Sorry, most of the community moderators and those that answer questions have school tomorrow and are probably in bed. I may be able to answer your question or direct you to where you can find an answer.
Please look at this page here and it will tell you about the fixed width page format.

Editing problems
There is not a maximum page length, but it's generally a good idea to break content into seperate sub pages for ease of viewing and navigating. Check out the Wetpaint style guide for general tips on page design and formatting:

Fixed 1024 pixel width
What will be the EXACT width in the page editing area?
So... 1024 minus (the width of the left Site Navigation Area + Margins) = ??? In the new page format ?
It is not mentioned on this page: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Page+Formatting+Tips It is recommended to either set a table to "fit to page" or set a fixed pixel width so that the table fits within the fixed page width. So what would be the fixed pixel width of a table, that fits within the fixed page width?

animation
There are several areas you need to be familiar with
1. Understanding the banner dimensions and the different styles for sites. It makes a difference to the size of your animation
http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Header+Logo
2. An understanding of the new page layout that will be coming soon. The banner dimesions will change. So I would design the animation around the new dimensions
http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Page+Formatting+Tips
3. An understanding of Gif files used with Wetpaint wikis. Although this page is set up for avatars, all the imformation will apply to any animated gif.

Have fun.

Help!
I believe your site has gone through the new formatting changes. Wetpaint has few formatting where pages are now at a 1024x768 resolution. This is a change Wetpaint is making on all sites, and it will occur sooner or later to all sites.

For All Wiki Creators
There seems to be a lot of concern about screen resolutions and horizontal scrolling when creating a wiki page. All the answers given are to aid the wiki/page creator. This page width dimensions are fine for the creator's view. But what will others see? What if they are not on the same screen resolution? What if they are using a different browser? Will each experience the same view as the creator? Chances are no they will not. It takes an understanding of the 1024 width layout recommended by Wetpaint, as with the design of a majority of the websites on the internet.
The 1024 width layout is for CONTENT of your pages, which include text, banner logo, tables etc. This does not mean SCREEN RESOLUTION It means that all content on your wiki will fit within 1024 pixels width. This will assure that all modern screen resolutions will be able to see the pages without having to horizontally scroll the page. This includes mobile devices.
Different browsers will render the HTML code that Wetpaint produces differently. They shouldn't but they do. If the page/wiki creator is using Firefox and their page is perfect to them, it may not appear perfectly in Internet Explorer or vice versa.
There is a site which will test a page from a wiki and provide a screenshot of that page in browser's selected. This site is extremely handy when a page/wiki creator is concerned about all of their members ability to view the page the same way they are.
Here is the website's address. Copy and paste it into your browser's address bar.

Make it optional - WYSIWG or HTML editor.
Here is a tip I made a few days ago:
Are you tired of spacing out your page to get it exactly the way you want it and seeing it all disappear when you click save? With the help of these "spacer GIFs" you can add transparent lines to your page and make sure that they don't disappear once your done editing. Try these Space GIFs and see the difference they will make to your wiki!
Visit: http://splats.wetpaint.com/page/Managing+Blank+Lines+On+Your+Page to get your own!
___________________________________________________________________________ Ronan - Why not try "Search this Wiki" in the top-left corner of the page? It will reduce thread numbers and give you more detailed information! http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/account/DigitalX
