  • Edit and Lock I will add content to this page tomorrow. It is under construction. Please don't edit it yourself. My apologies for the confusion.

  • Banning If it is an offensive page or thread you need to remove, you can easily delete them.

    Delete a page - http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/delete+a+page
    Delete a thread - http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/delete+thread+or+post.

Users and anonymous users can be banned, so that they are no longer allowed to contribute to your wiki.

    Ban a user - http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/banning+users

  • just a couple questions...
    "what are moderaters?
can you delete a website you have made whenever you want?
    "
Moderators have editing permissions above those of registered users/writers and they can ban or change the roles of other moderators or registered users/writers. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/user+permissions/

The wetpaint interface does not provide an option to delete your wiki. Only wetpaint can do that via the advanced options available only to staff. You need to send an email to wetpaint with a request to delete your wiki. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/delete+a+site/

  • Can't Add a Page!
"It says to click on "Add page" below the navigation pane on the left. My navigation pane says, "Home" and nothing else.

Please help ASAP---this is my first web site ever, it's for a class, and I have to add several more pages!

    Thanks!
    cajunreisel"
Check that you are signed in to the wiki. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/signing+in/ you'll need to be signed in to add pages.

The screen shot provided by yy10 is accurate. If you are signed in then you should be able to see the "add a page" button below the navigation pane.

  • File Uploads It also deters the practice of illegal file sharing such as MP3s, Videos and the such, which are mostly above the 2mb range. Plus as Hadye has pointed out, 80 meg storage for files and unlimited storage for images seems like more than enough for a free offering. Two years ago, 80 megabytes was my total disk space on my computer.

  • not fair
"you should'nt allow people to change your website wether your a member or not. Because they might totally take over your website. And i dont think that you should have the word wetpaint in the title."
Only users with editing privileges can make changes to the pages on your wiki. And only moderators and up have the power to delete pages and ban users. You can change all of these settings in the permissions area of the site settings. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/site+permissions+settings

The reason .wetpaint.com is included in your wikis URL is because custom URL's (www.mysite.com) are usually taken by other users around the world. You can remove the .wetpaint.com only by buying a custom domain. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/custom+url

  • I was new to this site and those ppl were driving me crazy Also, Hadye and Brave agree with the banning. I banned her originally, but she was unbanned by brave. Once brave saw her comments, he banned her. Then, Hadye wanted to unban her, but after her comments, she was banned. I asked her nicely to stop, but she refused. So did many of the other users.

  • Multiple users
"It is not possible for multiple users to edit one page and see each others updates while they are editing. Changes to a page don't appear until someone saves, and if you were in EasyEdit mode while the changes were saved, you won't be able to see those changes until after you have exited. In addition, your changes will be saved over the first person's, which means any work that they did will be erased once you click save. "
You are most correct Hadye. A way to prevent multiple users from editing the same page is to Insert a statement at the top of the page I AM EDITING THIS PAGE. WHEN THIS MESSAGE IS DELETED, THE PAGE WILL BE FREE TO OTHERS when editing the page.
As soon as the page is opened for editing. insert the text and save. Then go back into editing the page. This will alert others the page is being edited. And will certainly prevent data loss as Hayde has pointed out.

  • PLease help me. I use Internet Explorer. But I've done it before with IE. And Hadye, the widget probably isn't "faulty." I have added music videos before the exact same way I have tried that didn't work. But if it will help I've been using the Imeem widget for all different videos, not just one.

  • Wrong icon next to comment in News Page
"The avatar shown is of the user who wrote the last comment. What avatar do you see underneath the "MBS Blog #2" link now?"
I see my avatar next to MBS Blog #2 even though Hadye made the last comment. Here's a screen shot:

    Do you see something different?

I've seen this in Vista under IE 8 and FF 3.5 and in XP with both IE8 and FF 3.5.

  • Anchor tags and/or Table of Contents While linking to another spot in the page is not possible with wetpaint's editing system, there are a number of ways to improve navigation on your site.

Linking to another page of your wiki while in easy edit mode is easy. Highlight the text you want to link and click "link." You don't even have to enter a URL, just type the name of the page and you're done. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/add+link/

Wetpaint has easy to remember URL's for pages, accounts, and features. If you know the name of the page you need to get to it's easy to type in the URL of your site: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com, for example, then add the /page/page+name+here/ ending.

For improved navigation it's a good idea to put quick links at the bottom of each page. A standard quick link set includes a few links to commonly used areas, each separated with a "|" symbol. Here's an example: http://bumblepool.wetpaint.com/

You might not be aware of this but every wetpaint wiki comes with a built in site map. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/sitemap/ It's a good idea to put a link to the site map on your home page for the benefit of newer users.
