Any future enhancements to the Discussion forums on the cards?
Its just my forums are stating to get buzzing and I fear some threads may get lost to the wind..for example I cant 'stick' a thread to the top of the forum. I would like to better organise the threads into specific areas, so all say XBox threads would go in one 'folder' and PS3 in another etc...
Or are we going to have to make do with setting up an external forum specific account and linking to that...I would rather keep everything in house thean getting members to sign up to another site kust to be able to discuss things with each other

Discussion Forum:
I am experiencing a problem with my site Discussion Forum as follows.
I also cannot get into the discussion forum using the tabs. However, I can get to threads I have already been to using my history and the similar topics links at the bottom of the page.
This is the message that I get when I click on the Discussion tab: "Internet Explorer Cannot open the site http://........................thread Operation Aborted" Sorry can't give site name (Delicate?)
What do i do about this problem, and i see that others have had or are having the same problem

Discussion Forum
I know I've been harping on about the forum for a while now, but that's because I think it has awesome untapped potential to allow Wetpaint to grow further...hell, that's in all our good interest.
Firstly, congratulations Wetpaint on the last discussion forum release. The fact that categories can be managed and sorted is a big step forward as it has made it infinitely more useable by simply being able to organise posts.
Here are a couple of simple suggestions to further enhance the discussion forum which I think will totally transform it into a superb tool.
1:- A set of smileys/emoticons. Non-visual communication is a factor of online community membership. Human communication however involves far more than what is just being said. Smileys/emoticons are a simple way to enable peple to interact better by displaying the mood of the post, thus preventing mis-interpretation. Online communication is worldwide and regional cultural differences can result in people interpreting a message in ways that may not have been intended by the writer. An emoticon can help the reader to tune in to the mood of the writer.
2:- Images/Links It would be a great improvement to be able to post images on a discussion board post. Even if it is just images from the wiki's photo gallery. Doing this would allow members to really brag about their passion and would facilitate more detailed discussion.
Similarly with links. Allowing external url links into the body text of a discussion post will enhance the discussion forum experience and at the same time willpropagate Wetpaint further.
Just these two simple additions will imo transform an ok wiki feature into a fully interactive useable tool.
Keep up the good work guys.
Regards
Joe

Forum
hi
is there a way to switch off the forum discussions. We have various discussions on our site, and just don't have the resources to admin the discussions.
If possible can we have it such that if anyone clicks the Discuss button it can go to another site which my colleagues maintain which is a dedicated forum.
Would make things so much easier all round for us, at present we are spending too much time manning the discussions, which we can't do.
Rgds

Watching Discussion Forums
I'm a member of a wetpaint group, and I would like to put a watch on the discussion forum page so I can be notified of any changes to existing discussions as well as any new discussions. I can't find a way to do this. Is it possible?

Discussion Forum Missing Content
Hello:
I am an Administrator for the ANT wiki http://ants.wetpaint.com/
We started using our discussion forum and for some reason, it is displaying things irregularly.
On the right hand side of the Home Page you can see one of the Active Threads (under Recent Site Activity) is Copyright. But if you click on Discussion Forum on the Box on the Left, when it takes you to discussion forum site (i.e. its history), this is missing from the list of discussions.
I can click on the Copyright link under Active Threads and see it under William Boatman ! Copyright. Why is it not appearing under the list of Discussions on the Discussion Forum (history) Page?
I don't want it to go missing if someone adds another thread (which would push it out of the Active Threads and disappear from view entirely since it woudl not be on the Discussion Forum's history.)
I am using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7.0
Could you please look into this and get the Copyright thread into the Discussion Forum?
Thanks in advance,
Carmen Kazakoff-Lane

Organizing the discussion forum
I greatly enjoy working with wetpaint. However, there is one feature that I would like to see changed: In the discussion forum, there is - as far as I can see - no possibility to structure the questions per subject. Being able to do so would greatly enhance the utility! (for an example, see http://www.concertina.net/forums/ ). Thanks for considering to implement such an option!
Kind regards, Mark

Acceptable length for a discussion forum
My students have commented that there is a limit to the length of one's post in the discussion forum, which results in them cutting their original post into two. They would like to retain the single post in its entirety. Aside from asking them to edit their work, is there a way to extend the word/letter limit on discussion forum posts?

Suggestion For Discussion Forum
You should be able to add your own discussion, with General and Off-Topic automatically there. If we do this, it will be more like a forum. So there will be you being able to add the forum topics. No longer will Wetpaint users need to IFRAME or add forum widgets, Wetpaint would come with it's built in forum.
Does anyone else like the idea?

Posting a URL in the discussion Forum
"http://www.google.com
I've never seen a URL be hyperlinked ("clickable") in a Discussion Forum unless the link is to a Wetpaint page.
Is this a feature that might be added?
Thank you,
Mark

abusive posts on discussion forums
Hi,
In the AnitaBlake wiki, there has recently been some abusive anonymous posts put on several discussion forum threads. Can it be made that all discussion posts need a login? These are ruining some good discussions....

New Discussion Forum Categories
Well, Wetpaint has released the latest update, and it seems to be the discussion forum categories and Twitter updates in the "News" section. Moderators and Admins are now enabled to add categories to the discussion forum, instead of having many pages with support answers. Users can add a thread to any page, and they can also pick a category, such as "General Discussion," or a custom made one, such as "Wetpaint Support." The Discussions module has also been added to the discussions page.
Along with all of the new additions, the "News" section of your site now takes any Tweets about a user. This can be added easily when adding a News feed.
Otherwise that's all I know about the new update. Tell WP what you think!
