4.20.11 - Users may experience some minor lag in threads, usually thread posts disappearing and reappearing again. This is most likely because of the last release, and should iron itself out within a few weeks.

4.13.11 - All bugs have been fixed, and users can now move pages again.
1.18.11 - The development team is currently working to bring several out of sync database servers up to date. Once this problem is corrected, users will no longer go "back in time" upon refreshing a page and landing on a bad server; all pages, threads, and private messages will be up to date as soon as this problem is corrected.
10.6.10 - Users should now be able to sign in and edit pages. However, posting threads, sending person to person messages, and the updates are still down. We're working on a fix.
10.5.10 - Our database developed some problems that started preventing users from being able to sign in, post threads, or edit pages. We apologize for the down time and any inconvenience it has caused. We hope to have everything working normally as soon as possible.

1.11.10 - Malware WarningsSome Malware warnings found on Wetpaint wikis are results of attackers that have exploited some critical vulnerabilities that exist in Adobe Flash Player (v9.0.159.0 and v10.0.22.87) Please visit Adobe's website and download the security fix.
11.23.09 - Watchlist Bug
Wetpaint is experiencing some problems with the watchlist. For now, you can view the pages you've edited and the threads you've replied to in your contribution history.
10.20.09 - New member email notifications have been disabledThe hardware that supports new member email notification processing can't handle the job anymore. The good news is the Wetpaint operations team is working on implementing some better, faster, stronger hardware. The bad news is that it may take a couple of weeks. Thanks for your patience while we get this fixed!
2.4.2009 - Malware warning What Happened?
Wetpaint discovered that an advertisement we were serving contained malware. We found out about this issue thanks to our users reporting the problem. We believe the malware came from an advertiser that turned out to be less than trustworthy. The ad that we ran for them turned out to include code that prompted users to run "Antivirus 360" to scan their computer for viruses. In reality, this ad would install malware on the user's computer if they clicked on it. The malware was first spotted several months ago, but was not reported. It was only recently that more Wetpaint users began to experience it.
If you click either OK or Cancel, it will take you to this page (whether or not you are using a Mac OR a PC), where it will scan your computer, planting a virus. |
About the Antivirus360 malware
Antivirus360 is the latest version of a known and venerable spyware package. It is a fake Antivirus software package and takes its name from Symantec’s newest product. It pretends to scan your machine for viruses while actually installing them. It then shows a list of infected files which, if deleted, actually causes Windows to cease functioning.
More information on a previous version of Antivirus360, including infected files and registry keys created can be found at Symantec.
What is Wetpaint doing?
Wetpaint has taken steps to block the malicious ad. We are now...
- Verifying the cause
- Determining how many users were affected
- Determining the best fix for any users that were affected
What can I do?
If you clicked on the ad and think you might have been infected, we highly recommend running an anti-virus/malware scan using a reputable product.Instructions on how to uninstall Antivirus 360 can be found here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove- antivirus-360 If a virus shows up on your scan called "VirtuMonde," please let us know as this may be a high risk adware virus that comes with Antivirus 360.
If you are still seeing ad-ware issues occur anywhere on Wetpaint, we would greatly appreciate if you would report it to us along with a screen capture of the offending ad.
We messed up
We are very disappointed that we messed up and let something like this happen to you guys. Going forward we will be very carefully screening advertisers that want to place ads on Wetpaint sites, and developing a stringent process to protect our users from any future scams.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions by email or by posting a thread in the discussion forum here at Wetpaint Central. We sincerely apologize to anyone that has been affected by this unfortunate event, and we promise to do our best to make sure nothing like this happens again on our watch.
Best regards,
The Wetpaint Team
