Mr. Bartels, a high school English teacher and wiki user extraordinaire, is here to help answer any questions that educators may have during process of creating a wiki for their school, classroom, group project, and more.

We asked Mr. B a few questions about why he uses wikis.

Here's what he had to say:

Why wikis & education?
With the current generation of students being more technologically savvy than ever before, digital space has become a viable and important tool for educators. Wikis supply digital publication without needing to have knowledge of coding or private server space. In other words, incredibaly easily published web space.
How do you use wikis in your classrooms?
I use my wiki space to improve my communication with parents and guardians, student publication, and peer review.
Why Wetpaint wikis?
When shopping around for the wiki space I would call my own, I was very impressed with two key aspects of Wetpaint. Creating and editing my Wetpaint classroom pages is just as easy as creating and editing a simple text document on my desktop. Wetpaint allows the user to decide how "open" he or she wants his or her page to be. These levels of control over who has editorial permission was a huge drawing point for me as it enables me to feel safe about publishing key information about my classes.
