The Supreme Court mercifully struck the Act down in ACLU v. Reno (1997), but the concept of the bill was revived with the Child Online Protection Act (COPA) of 1998, which criminalized any content deemed "harmful to minors." Courts immediately blocked COPA, which was formally struck down in 2009.
Why is it still followed by Wetpaint? |

After reading these rules I am afraid of entering the discussions in the forum or private messaging people lest I get banned. Can you make there be a ban of a couple months or so instead of permanent? Even things listed with instant bans can happen on accident.

I use a Wetpaint wiki to supplement instruction in my face-to-face English composition courses at a public community college. In a document explaining how to do research, I typed the name of an article I found. This article had to do with international penalties for homosexual acts. The article title is: "Death by ******." Later, when I went back to my page, I noticed that the word "******" had been replaced by a series of asterisks. I was shocked that Wetpaint had censored this word. It was used in a purely academic manner in a scholarly way and could not possibly be considered pornographic or obscene. Why was this word blocked from my site? Have other instructors had similar experiences with Wetpaint?

Ok well.... this is getting on my nerves a whole lot. I get my content/art/name stolen often. I'd like to know a way to finally deal with this when it comes up.
My pack is Twistedfurypackreborn.wetpaint.com And a girl joined my pack and pm'ed me a link. Stealing from the site, my art and my name. HER pack is http://thenewtwistedfurypack.wetpaint.com/whatsnew And she used the name Halopromise123. -__- adding numbers to the end of my name. 123catlover456 is the same person. All the art/images their are created be me as well, including icon This happens often and it's really stressful now. I've messages her to remove it but nothing.

Ok so as you all know people are having trouble getting on with the girls ad. Please help. I mean ive read the threads about adplus but i dont have firefox all i have is internet explorer. Also on internet explorer it has the girl ad in the back round of wetpaint. For me its only happening on wetpaint. Sorry for the complant but its starting to get on my last nerves. Someone please reply with good news.

I don't know what to do about this, can you guys help? I don't exactly know where to put this either.
My friend's website was MAJORLY copied by another website and they put OUR content on it TODAY. My friend's had it since last MONDAY. Also, this girl keeps saying everything on OUR website it hers when she NEVER had it on her website. I put many things up saying, 'Please don't copy' and she doesn't even listen! I am having an issue with this website, World Wide RP, the owner of the site has broken many rules.
1. She advertised on another site, one that I am a member of and I got the message. 2. She insulted me by calling me, "stupid old blue". 3. She is sparking a war, as I quote from her rules page: "Stormclaw#53, Echostep, Bluemoon5652, Berry9, and lionblaze10 are not aloud for rivalry reasons." 4. She banned me for no reason, I got to the site and she banned me from the chat. I joined the site and she banned me when I did nothing wrong to break any rules. Thanks for reading my message and I hope you see that the site owner is not following the Wetpaint Central Rules, Bluemoon5652

I found out about wetpaint from my sister who 's friend had made a site, and so I joined before ANY of us new of the rule. I have started a site, and am admin on another, so I was wondering if I shouldn't be in those positions, or if I should come back in a couple of years. Thanks!

Wetpaint seems to automatically replace certain words with **** even if they are perfectly ordinary words.
Recently this has happened with "****" and "****". While I realise "****" can refer to genitalia, it didn't in this case, and I can't see the problem with "****". While I realise Wetpaint has to obey certain social norms, surely it should depend on the context. If we have to misspell people's names and titles just to get them past Wetpaint's spell check it makes us look pretty stupid!
