Top ten tips

10 simple things you can do to improve your site:
1. Give your home page a descriptive name.
2. Keep your home page text short. Put 4 to 5 links on your home page to deeper pages on your site.
3. Be welcoming! Tell people what they can do on your sites. It makes it easier to contribute!
4. To aid users in finding content of interest, keep your site’s navigation menu well-organized.
5. Update the site frequently with unique content. Refresh the home page to advertise the new pages.
6. Avoid creating blank pages. Add a call to action at the top to encourage contribution.
7. Use headers and subheads to aid page scanning and to create a sense of information hierarchy.
8. Use keyword tags on every page to help users discover related content more easily.
9. Add lots of photos and videos. Remember to add links and descriptions to your photos.
10. Make sure you place tags on all the pages. Your site will be much easier to find on large search engines with tags on pages, photos, and videos.
