Wetpaint does not support subscript nor superscript. But there is a way to get your formulas onto your page without too much extra work. Please visit this page on my site to find out how.
What you will see there is subscript and superscript formulas.

There are heaps of characters available for use on web pages that don't appear on a computer keyboard. Some you can type by knowing the keyboard shortcuts (eg ½) while others can be pasted in.

Here is a set of characters I paste into documents when needed:

Tick and cross
✓ ✔ ✗ ✘ ☥

Superscript codes
⁰ ¹ ² ³ ⁴ ⁵ ⁶ ⁷ ⁸ ⁹ ⁺ ⁻ ⁼ ⁽ ⁾ ²⁺ ³⁺ ²⁻ ³⁻

Subscript codes
₀ ₁ ₂ ₃ ₄ ₅ ₆ ₇ ₈ ₉ ₊ ₋ ₌ ₍ ₎

Greek
Δ Σ Ω δ μ

→ ← ↔ ⇄ ⇋ ⇌ ↑ ↓

Mathematical symbols
√ ∛ × ÷ ≡

Fractions
¼ ½ ¾ ⅓ ⅔ ⅕ ⅖ ⅗ ⅘ ⅙ ⅚ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ⅟

I've put all these characters on a special page on my chemistry wetpaint site, so that people can copy and paste them as needed.

Thank you Anne for the very useful chart. I have taken the opportunity if you don't mind and copied the chart to a page referenced in an earlier reply to this thread. Included is a chart of the Alt-Numeric Keyboard codes your referenced. Instructions also contain how to use MS Character Map for selection of the extended character sets. I am not too familiar with the MAC arena, but put a link to Apple for accessing those special characters. Thanks again.

If you would like here is a link to that page on Splats.
