How do I track page view and site statistics on my website?

To provide you detailed page view and user statistics for your site Wetpaint partnered with SiteMeter. Adding SiteMeter tracking capabilities to your site is easy. Simply sign-in to your site as an administrator or creator and navigate to the 'Settings' area linked from the top right of your site. Then click the link called 'Site Statistics.' You will find detailed instructions on how to sign-up for SiteMeter (it's free) and add the tracking code to your site.

In just a few clicks you'll be up and running.

  1. Create a free Site Meter account (or log in if you have already created one).
  2. After you have logged in go to your Manager area (http://www.sitemeter.com/?a=manager) select the HTML embed code and copy it.
  3. Go back to your Wetpaint site, sign in, and click on 'Settings'.
  4. Click on the tab marked 'Site Statistics'
  5. Paste your unique JavaScript HTML code into the box on your site statistics page in the settings section for your site. The box will say "Paste your SiteMeter JavaScript code here"
  6. Click the 'Activate Statistics for this Site' button at the bottom of the page.
One Wetpaint user has reported that, under certain conditions, the site traffic data shown on Sitemeter's site may include the email addresses of some of your wiki members. The user says you can prevent this disclosure by not using the default "NORMAL" privacy level for your Sitemeter counter. You change this setting on Sitemeter's website, under manager/privacy level.

For additional instructions you can go to the SiteMeter Support FAQ and view the Wetpaint Installation procedures.
