Private Sites
Despite what you may think, it's not an easy change. Roles and Permission are an integral part of our system and affect every page load in numerous ways. When I say that we're looking into something, that means we're evaluating what development and testing would require in order to make it work.
We've proven, repeatedly and recently, that we respond to our users' requests. While this particular feature has gotten a few requests, it's not more important than some other initiatives we're been working on recently. Friends, What's New, Promote Your Site, and the site redesign were significant efforts, both in feature functionality and development time. There are many great ideas that get left out on every release.
I agree that this is an important change to make. I am not, however, the sole arbiter of what gets developed.

Go Green: A Resource Guide
Go Green: A Resource Guide is a wiki developed by Dr. Derek Hansen and a group of graduate students from the College of Information Studies (http://www.clis.umd.edu/) at the University of Maryland, College Park, who hope to make this wiki a destination for those seeking information on ways to go, and stay, green.
The wiki contains critical evaluations and insightful descriptions of information resources on environmentally friendly topics to help individuals be more “green” in their everyday lives. In addition the wiki also contains specialized guides, an environmental calendar, and clear directions on how to participate in our wiki community.
The wiki is an excellent example of how librarians are harnessing new, community-based technologies to extend their reach beyond the buildings they inhabit.
We encourage you to read, edit, and add to this wiki.

Advertising your site
Hey guys, I deleted this page. Unfortunately we can't allow advertising your site on Wetpaint Central. Wetpaint Central is primarily for getting help with using Wetpaint, suggesting features, and reporting bugs, etc.
We have had over half a million sites created on Wetpaint. It just isn't feasible to et every one advertise their site here. Some other users have created advertising sites that you can use for this purpose. Look around for those and also be sure to read the site promotion guide here: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Site+Promotion+Guide
You can also meet new friends and invite them to come to your site here: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Meet+Other+Users

I'd recommend you check out the Wetpaint Search Engine Optimization Guide for tips on getting your site noticed.

Make sure you promote your site through any bulletin boards you visit or take part in, especially if they have relevance to your site's topic. Also, add the link to the signature on your e-mail, business cards (if you have them), or create banners. Post the link so that people are aware of it. Also, use keywords for each page you create that are relevant to the page. They will eventually get picked up on.
