How do I change who can contribute to my site?

Administrators and creators can change who may contribute to the site. Since changing the permissions setting can drastically alter the amount and quality of contributions made to your site, we recommend doing so only in cases where locking pages, banning users, or adding more moderators have failed either to curtail or generate a desired level and quality of contributions. To change the site permissions setting:

  1. Make sure you are signed in and click on the 'Settings' link in the upper right-hand corner of the site.

  2. Select "Permissions" from the list of options.

  3. Click on the "I want to change this setting" button and follow the steps to assign your new permissions settings.

FAQ

Q. Can I make my site private? I don't want anyone else to be able to see my site.

A. Yes. After you have created a site go into the site "Settings" . Look under the "Permissions" tab on the settings page.

Q. Why can other people edit my website?

A. Wetpaint sites are openly editable by design! This feature allows people to collaborate as they create content for the site, and brings like-minded people together who share a common passion.

Q. Okay, that’s great, but I still don’t want others to edit my website. How do I change this?

A. As the creator of your site, you have two options to control who has permission to directly edit pages:

  • Manually “lock” individual site pages. Learn how.
  • Set your global permissions scheme to “invite-only” mode so that you can control who has access to edit pages.

Note: RSS feeds are disabled when a site is set to private status.
