Your site name and site description are both important areas of your wiki settings. They both directly impact the way your site is listed and displayed in the search engines.
Site Name
Your site name is used to identify your site on the website, in invitation emails, links to this website and in the search engines.
For example, the
Mythbusers wiki has uses the site name, which follows the name of every page on the site in the search listings:

The best site names:
- Are short (2-5 words in length) so they are easier to remember
- Are informative and compelling
- Use words that are relevant to your site
- Are simple - using numbers or letters to replace words is hard to remember
- Include at least one important search term
Site Description
A site description provides potential visitors and search engines with a concise explanation of what your site is about.
Take a look at the example below of the Mythbusters Google listing, highlighted in yellow:

The best site descriptions:
- Are one to two sentences
- Use between 15-25 words
- Describe what you can find on the site and why you might want to check it out
- Use complete sentences
- Include at least one search term in your description
