What is a Bug?
A bug is typically some kind of glitch, flaw, or error in the code that causes an outcome that is different than what is intended by the software design. This basically just means that something is not working the way it was designed to. Keep in mind that a bug is not the same thing as a virus despite the similarity in medical terminology. How to Report a Bug
Please include the following information (so we can help you!):
DO NOT POST ANY PASSWORDS. | ||
1. First, please sign in if at all possible so we know who you are!.
2. Report bugs you've found by posting a new thread below.
Avoid leaving comments that that don't include all the information in the red box above:
- "My widgets don't work"
- "I can't sign in"
If you're having trouble with the content of a particular wiki, that's something to take up with the Moderators of that wiki. Wetpaint cannot control content or comments created by other users.
The comments on this page are reviewed daily. While we try to be responsive in a timely manner, we don't comment on future release dates, and it may take us several days to respond to an issue.
Including appropriate information makes it possible for us to review the problem - without this information it's really hard to help!

I can't login to many Wetpaint sites. I am logged in here because it is set it to remember me. I have tried different sites but it's not working. I use IE 7. Nothing like this has happened before, though. When I try to login with my username and password, it just reloads the page with me not logged in. I have tried clearing my cache and cookies, but there's no effect.

| hullklint | Going to private wiki when not a member (but logged in) gives bug page | 0 | Yesterday, 9:54 PM EDT by hullklint | |

The default "bug" page displays when I am logged in with this "test" account and try to browse to another private wiki that I'm not yet a member of. The expected behavior is to see the "this wiki is private" page.
The bug occurs whether I follow a link from another wiki or whether I open a new (IE6 ) browser window and enter the address manually. Trying to view the page when *not* logged in gives the "[wiki site title] is a private wiki." page, complete with "member sign-in" button. My students are getting very confused by this behavior. They join our "core" wiki, which gives them instructions on how to construct their "group project" wiki (a separate wiki site for each group), but when they try following the link from the "core" wiki to their "group project" wiki, they get an error instead of a "you're not a member yet" message. They need to accept the "group project" wiki invitation as well as the "core" wiki invitation, but seeing a bug page instead of a "you're not a member" page prevents most of them from realizing this. Site admins: try testing this bug on your end, please; if you can't reproduce, please PM klinthull. |
