Why is Design Important?
A website that is visually appealing, easy to read, and easy to navigate communicates the scope of the site and looks good.A fun aspect of Wetpaint is the freedom of designing it the way you want. The following sections will help:
- Organize pages - General tips on how to make your pages look good and easy to find.
- Style guide - General formatting tips
- Using Images - Images can really complete a Wetpaint site
- How to use tables - Tables can organize data, photos, text and they can make a page visually appealing.
- Get as much content "above the fold" as possible
Wetpaint designs look best at a 1024 x 768 resolution, so it is best if you set your screen resolution before designing your site. Statistically, this is the most popular setting.

Is a nice tutorial/lesson on web page layouts and using columns, frames, or tables that will grow or shrink as a viewer resizes his/her browser window or people view your pages with different screen resolutions. Many of us who create web content are sort of "super users" who tend to have larger monitors and higher screen resolution. So it is easy for us to desing a page that looks great on our machine but not so great on the average smaller, lower resolution monitor. It is always a good idea to view your web site design on an average or less than average set-up when you are fist getting started, to see how it will look. It is sort of too late to change it after you have many hours invested. |
