Well, i was looking through sites and i found one where the text was evened out with a picture that was next to it. Because when you have text next to a pic it usually is at the very bottom of the photo, and i was wondering how you make it even with the pic and not at the bottom of it.
Please help?

I have been waiting for five days for my three websites to be switched to the fixed centered format. I have all of my graphics and the new banners created but I am waiting until after the switch to add them up.
I also plan to redesign my home pages after the switch is made, but I cannot do so until afterward. I would very much appreciate it if someone would switch the following three websites to the fixed centered format or at least create a patch update so that site creators can do it for themselves if they wish. I apologize for "advertising," because I'm sure you will see this as advertising. However, I have been ignored through private messages. Perhaps this method will work. The websites that need changing are: http://warriorscatsroleplay.wetpaint.com/ http://moderatorsofwarriorscatsroleplay.wetpaint.com/ (This site is private..not sure if that matters.) http://warrior-cats-role-play.wetpaint.com/

Is the fixed 1024 pixel width format still coming to wetpaint? Nothing has been heard for months about this. Hopefully they have decided to scrap the idea.

But then someone else on here said it was gonna be completely removed. cAn someone clarify if its gonna be on the right rail, or gone forever because that's how I've been accessing my private wiki

I am not usually one to complain about new updates, although I did complain quite a bit about the Photo Gallery feature.
I do not see why this update is necessary. I do not use 1024x768, I use 1440x900. I have made literally hundreds (600+) of pages using that format, and it would be an enormous effort to go back and adjust them so that the images won't be cut off. Did anyone actually ask for this, or is this to make things easier for a few people? For an example of what I am talking about, you can look at my work on the CSI Wiki: http://csi.wetpaint.com/page/CSI+Screencaps 12,000+ individual images uploaded to over 600 pages and counting... While it may make things fit better on smaller screens, they will look horribly cramped on bigger ones. You need to keep the dynamic resizing so you can fit the needs of all resolutions, not just one. If it aint' broke, don't fix it. -Phillip

Looking at the specs on the new page layout, I find there are 40 pixels in width not accounted for.
1. Main area - 650 pixels 2. Right rail - 300 pixels 3. All padding and spacing - 34 pixels. That totals to 984 pixels, the same as the header graphic. The screen width is 1024. What is happening in that 40 pixel space? Will it be white space 20 pixels on both sides to center page or something else? Of is that to accommodate the inequities of the different browsers when it comes to spacing?

I cannot believe I am the only one thinking "outside the box" or should I say boxes. The fixed width page format is nothing. Most of you have missed the point. The fixed width page is a pre-requisite for the new page layout. If you are complaining now about your content not looking right in the space provided now ( 761 pixels wide ), wait til you have to divide your content into two boxes. One box is 650 pixels wide and the other to the right of that are is 300 pixels wide.
The changes coming are sure to come. So what to do now! 1. If your screen resolution is higher than 1024 X 768, change the screen resolution to 1024 X 768 and adjust all page content so there is no horizontal scrolling. Then set your screen resolution back to your preferred setting. 2. If you do not do this now, when the 1024 fixed width change rolls out, you will not be able to get to the content that extends beyond the right border. It will not be viewable to retrieve. For more information please see this page on Wetpaint Central http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Page+Formatting+Tip For a detailed look at some conceptual examples of what a page with content will look like for the new page layout, please go here. http://splats2.wetpaint.com/page/Looking+at+the+new+page+layout Splats2 was dead on the money in producing a conceptual look at the new page layout 3 days before the Wetpaint's layout diagram was posted here. The specifications were given in a thread by Wetpaint. |

The question still remains...
What happens if you have nothing in the right rail? Will it be pushed aside by bigger content in the main rail, or will it just appear as a blank space. I want this question answered by a Wetpaint employee, not by a registered user.

I really like this idea, and I've always had trouble for viewing w/ small computers screens...but, will this enable us to use a Background image finally? I hope it does, and it seems like most of the WP Community agrees w/ me. We want backgrounds, not chosen colors!

You wrote, "Tables - Use the "fit to page" option or set a fixed pixel width so that the table fits within the fixed page width."
Please tell us the exact number to use in order to make a table fit within the fixed page width. I have tables set at 1024 pixels, 850 pixels, and even tried 767 pixels, all of which cause horizontal scroll on my site. Here's the discussion: http://paddockparadise.wetpaint.com/thread/3329762/Do+you+have+to+scroll+to+the+right+to+see+the+whole+page%3F If this change away from dynamic page resizing will occur in all the Wetpaint sites, how can I get my site set up for it now, because it is driving some of our members crazy already! Thanks.
