PPC or Organic SEO? Which one should you choose? This is a featured page

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a process aimed at improving the number of visitors to a website from "natural" or "organic" (with following the guidelines provided by the search engines like Google, MSN, Bing, ect.) search engine listings.

Here are some of the guidelines:
  • Make a site with a clear hierarchy and text links.
  • Offer a site map.
  • Describe your content (this includes keywords within the site.)
  • Have a Title
  • Description and alt tags
  • Check for correct HTML.
and the list goes on and on.

Pay Per Click campaign on the other hand, is an advertising method used to make your website visible in the top or on the right side of the search engine listings saying 'sponsored results'. You have to bid on the keywords you want your site to be visible and obviously you have to pay the search engines to have your website listed in the results. I was in a conference and even in a lot of seminars, people ask me all the time, "Which one should I choose for my website?" Organic SEO or Pay per Click. Keeping that in mind, I am writing this article. Hope this helps. If you really want to promote your website you should have a combination of SEO, Pay per Click, Offline advertising, Email marketing, directory listing and of course word of mouth as well so that you are not missing anyone. Now If you have some budget and if you like to see immediate results, then Pay per Click is one of the fastest and easiest way to market your website. Why, you ask? Because once you set up the campaign, you can see results in less than a day in most search engines. Another advantage of this is you can test without spending a lot of money and see which gives you the best results and stick to that. So for fast, immediate results, Pay per Click works well.

Lets look at some of the advantages of Organic SEO
:
  1. According to some studies and practicality, not all visitors click on the sponsored listing. The reason may be lack of trust. Not everyone trust the sponsored results websites, since a lot of website owners misuse this method.
  2. Even though it might take a while to show up in the organic results, it is worth doing organic SEO. This method is for long term, once your website achieves a place you can maintain.
  3. Everyday, millions of visitors are constantly looking for information and products, so it is important for your website to show up in the result.
  4. Search engines can drive extreme traffic to your website.
  5. If you follow the guidelines, the organic SEO can be done in house without additional cost.(The person should be knowledgeable to do this.)
  6. Visitors value the organic search results more than Pay per Click results.
Lets look at some of the advantages of Sponsored Results:
  1. Immediate results as fast as in a day, and you can see quick results.
  2. Best way to test your marketing campaign.
  3. Easy to set up.
  4. Low budget and you can be in control of your budget. If you like to spend only $10.00 a month, you can still budget it.
  5. You pay only if the visitors click on your website.
  6. Multiple campaigns can be set up to test.
  7. Customized messages can be delivered.
  8. With a little bit of creativity and marketing pitches, you can drive a lot of traffic to your site.
These are some of the advantages. It is up to you to choose which one suits your business model. A combination of all means of marketing will work the best.
