"other widgets"
i have not had much luck getting "other widgets" to work. sometimes they are instantly kicked out as not supported. i have gotten a couple codes to go through, but when i finish editing the pages the box where they should be is only a blank white space.

I agree. I just joined a couple of existing wikis, and created 2 of my own. It got sort of old making duplicate profiles.
In some cases, I like the different profile for different wikis. If I join a sports wiki, people want to know about my sports interests. If I join a biology wiki, the other users would want to know about my interests in biology. But as you say, this could still be done by copying the profile and just modifying it, rather than starting from scratch.
On a somewhat related note, I was editing a page that already had 2 tables on it, and I wanted to add a 4th table of the same format. I did not find a way to copy an existing table and paste a new copy of it. I had to create a new table, and then try to get its format the match the others.
