GoDaddy.com $7.95 .com Domain names

Setting up your custom URL with GoDaddy is easy. Assuming you already have a domain registered with GoDaddy you can follow these simple steps.

  1. Sign-in with your account.
  2. Navigate to the 'My Account' page.
  3. Go the to 'Manage Domains' screen linked under the 'Domain Names' header.
  4. From the 'Domain Control Center' you can manage your domains. Select the domain you wish to point to your Wetpaint site. Your domain should appear linked from the middle of your screen.
  5. Scroll the internal frame down past the contact information until you see a module on the left with a title of 'Total DNS Control'
  6. Click the 'Total DNS Control and MX Records' link
    GoDaddy Domain Control
  7. Find the section that lists 'CNAMES (aliases)'
  8. In the first row that is labeled 'WWW' click the pencil icon on the right of the page - this will allow you to edit the CNAME record.
    GoDaddy DNS control panel
  9. Keep the alias name as is: "WWW"
  10. Update the 'Points To Host Name:' field with the subdomain for your Wetpaint site (sitenamehere.Wetpaint.com)(sitenamehere.wetpaint.com)
    GoDaddy CNAME settings
  11. Click OK
  12. Go the the section for "Forwarding" (back on the screen in step 6)
  13. Select the radio button marked "Enabled" and in the boxed marked "Forward to:" enter your custom domain (http://www.customdomain.com)
    GoDaddy Domain Forwarding
  14. Click OK
  15. Now, if you haven't already, update the settings area on your Wetpaint site with your custom URL (http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Site+Settings).

    You're done.

NOTE: It may take 24-48 hours for your domain change to take effect. It only took mine about 2 hours to go through - maybe I got lucky.

    Good luck!
