Forum categories allow site creators, administrators, and moderators to organize threads on their sites more easily.

Create a new category
  • On the main forum page, click on the "Add a new category" link as shown in the image below.

Move a thread to a different category
  • From the thread detail page: Click on "Moderator Tools" and "Change category".

  • From one category to another: Use the check boxes next to the threads to select the threads you want to move. Click on the "Move Threads" button at the bottom of the page.

Place a new thread in a category
  • Start a new thread, write your message, select which category to place the thread in by using the drop down menu, and then click "Post".

Deleting a category
  • Go to the Discussions page.

  • Click on the category you want to delete.

It appears the discussion categories are default ordered by alphabetical Category Name. I have some categories in place, but I want them to be shown with the most used categories on top when the default Ordered By is selected. Is there a recommended method to name the categories so they are in a desired order?

Could a moderator simply preface each category name with a number? 1. category name, 2. category name, 3. category name ? Or is there a better method to use?
Any suggestions are welcome.
