Featuring a thread is a great way to make sure a thread gets the visibility you want. In many Discussion Forums this feature is called making a thread 'sticky.'

Moderators and up can feature, and un-feature, any thread they like. Featured threads are placed at the top of their respective pages. For example, if a thread's location is a content page (AKA wiki page) it will appear at the top of the thread list for that page and the Discussion Forum. So, use featured threads selectively, if you feature too many it erodes their value in drawing attention to what's most important.

You can see how a featured thread looks below. Note the special featured icon which appears next to the thread wherever it appears. You can un-feature a thread from the same menu.

Below is how the main Discussion Forum looks. As you can see featured threads are at the top of the page regardless of any other status (recent replies, etc). The icon before the thread subject denotes if a thread is featured.
