Editing and Judgment Calls

Editing can be very subjective when it comes to a public, open content site. Although mistakes like improper spelling, bad grammar and broken links are cut and dry, many situations will require a final judgment call. For instance, someone may add an article to your Wetpaint site that is free of technical mistakes, yet you don't care for it. Perhaps the tone is wrong or the information is a bit redundant. When does something warrant an edit or complete rewrite? That is entirely up to you.

However, when reviewing additions, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is the content relevant to the topic?
  • Is the content informative and interesting to readers?
  • Is the content easy to read?
