After seeing dozens of sites creating dedicated wiki pages for discussion areas we realized it was time for a global area for forums functionality.

On the left rail of the page you will now find a link to the new ‘Discussion Forum.’ In the forum you will find three tabs. The first contains all of the most recently updated threads on the site. This includes threads on wiki content pages, threads on user profile pages, as well as new threads that aren’t linked to a page or a profile. The second tab includes the most active threads – those that have the most posts. You can use this new Discussion Forum area to keep tabs on the discussions across the site or even track conversations via keyword groupings available in the third tab.

Each thread can be expanded by clicking the arrow to get the details of the initial post and, if you click ‘show last reply’ the last. Want more? Just click the thread subject. You can always get back to the discussions Forums area simply by clicking the link in the left rail.
Lastly, each thread has one of three locations. A thread can either live on a wiki page, a user profile, or live more globally in the Discussion Forum. Location simply notes where the thread is linked on the site. A thread discussing training Golden Retrievers might live on the ‘Golden Retrievers’ wiki page. A thread about improving the overall site might live in the ‘Discussion Forum.’ A thread between two site users might simply live on one of their profile pages.

Look for the location icons at the top of thread pages.
