Creating a Welcome PageThis is a featured page

How are Welcome Pages useful?
Welcome pages are optional, you can add them if you like, and add a link in your welcome message. They are just like your welcome message, except they are a lot more detailed, and you can add things like pictures and widgets to them. They also help increase site sctivity, because they are very frendly, and can help your new users out with all the basics of the site. They are a lot nicer to look at (With rich media content) and therefore more likely to get viewers than Welcome Messages alone.

What should I put on a Welcome Page?
When creating welcome pages, try to stick to the content of your Welcome message, but have picture examples and widgets to go along the side. You should also try and add things like a detailed description of your site, and maybe a list of Moderators and Administrators (With a bit about them too). Below is an example of a Welcome page.

Example of a Welcome Page:
Example Welcome Page
The areas highlighted with red squares (You probably cannot read them) are key places. Although this welcome page is not very detailed, it contains pages that have more information on the site. The Picture is highlighted because it is interesting, and very eye-catching. The section at the bottom of the page is highlited because it contains the names of Moderators and Administrators. The navigation is highlighted because it contains pages with useful information about the site, including rules and policies.
