How do I create an account?

This site is written by people like you for people like you. To make the fullest contribution possible, sign up for a free account.

Registration is fast and easy. Click on the "Sign Up" link in the upper right-hand corner of the page and complete the short form, which includes fields for defining the following basic information:

  • Your username (which will appear on the site in connection with your edits and profile)
  • Your account password
  • E-mail address (It will not be shared unless you select it to be viewed on your Profile.)
  • First and last name (not publicly displayed)
  • Verification that you are over 13 years of age
Your personal information will not be shared except where explicitly stated or agreed to. (View Wetpaint's Privacy Policy.)

When you visit the site and make edits, you will sign in using the username and password you defined during the account setup process. Don't forget to Customize your profile.

Q: Why does it tell me I'm ineligible?
If you are getting a message that says “Based on the information you have supplied, you are ineligible to create a Wetpaint account” then it means you entered a date of birth that would make you ineligible to join Wetpaint. This precaution helps to prevent children under the age of 13 from registering for Wetpaint. Children under 13 are not allowed to join Wetpaint due to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) laws, which we must comply with. If you say you are underage we temporarily block additional attempts by dropping a cookie in your browser. This helps prevent kids under 13 from trying again and again until they can create an account.

Q: Can I change my username?
No, but you can create a new account. Just keep in mind that each Wetpaint account has to have a unique email address associated to it. If you want to ditch your old account and use your favorite email address on a new account, then go to your profile and change your email address. Once you've changed the email address on your old account you can use it on a new Wetpaint account.
