"Not to be a wise-ass or a smart-ass, but I have an answer to that question: Simply because you no longer want that site to be up. It doesn't matter whether someone doesn't want you to delete the site or not. It's the Creator's or Administrator's decision to delete it.
Now since you brought it up, I'd like to add something to your post: Anonymous, as wolfhunter said, there will be a user or two who might not want you to shut down the site. In this case, I don't think you would mind letting them be an Administrator, and let them take over the site. Now if you do this, don't expect to be promoted back if you cancel your membership and want to re-join. Yes, you made the site, but you left it. They don't have to make you more than a Registered User or Writer. If you don't want anyone to run the site at all, then follow their instructions on how to 'delete' your site.
-Clay " Good point. Crying Dove mentioned something in a PM about this procedure; You have to let the members have a chance to cancel their membership before you ban them, so they can remove that wiki from their "Wikis list." I'll edit that into my post.

"Yes I agree. I am A McAFEE site Advisor. This is One site that WILL NOT be getting recommended. " You can cancel your membership and not participate in Wetpaint anymore. This action does not remove your information from Wetpaint's database. This allows you and only you to rejoin at a later time under the same user name. That was noted in the reply #1 dated Dec 15, 2009. The issue you are facing is one of not knowing how to cancel your membership. You and only you can cancel your membership. Moderators/Administrators can not do that for you. You must go to your profiles on each of the wikis you have joined. On your profile page, there is a button to cancel your membership. This will remove the user name from that wiki. See this page below. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Cancel+MembershipNOTE: Before cancelling your membership, I would suggest you change your email address associated to the old user name or you will not be able to create a new account utilizing the email address associated with the old account. Change it to some fictitious email address then cancel your membership. This will allow you to set up the new user name account with the old email account. See this page below http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Change+Email+or+Password

I think its not even possible to delete (close, ...) your Wetpaint account. My idea is, WRITE AN E-MAIL TO INFO@WETPAINT.COM and ask if it could be possible. When everybody writes an e-mail, they must put a link in for it!

"A thread is a message vehicle to make a statement, ask a question, give directions, etc. A new thread post is the start of that vehicle. Each answer or comment posted as a reply to that thread, is attached (sewn or threaded) to the original message. This is done to keep replies associated with the appropriate post. One other thing about threads, is they can be associated with a page, giving a more organized way to keep threads together instead of helter skelter. " There are two options to replying to a thread. Quote and reply or reply. This is an example of Quote and reply. Notice the original post is highlighted in gray and the reply post is normal.

Is there a way I can delete my entire site I have created? I am the only member, so I wouldn't be putting anyone out. I just don't want my own wiki website.

AndyQTPham: I canceled it a long time ago because I didn't get the hang of wetpaints yet. I thought that the account would be useless since I didn't even go on the site anymore.
But I got my account back. Thanks for your help! :)

No, only from that site. If you decide later that you want to go back to that site you canceled on, you can simply click "join this wiki" and sign in. You'll have all your contributions, friends, etc.

You just join the wiki again. But you lose you posistion, so if i was a moderator, canceled my account, then came back, I would be back down to a registered user.
