Because Wetpaint Servers can only handle so much data, which means that if every page on Wetpaint had 3,000 attachments, the servers would overload and break.

You need to be a Moderator or up to do the following:
Go to the Updates section and select the Attachments tab. It will then give you a list of attachments on the site. Over to the far right, you should see: Remove, just click it and remove the attachment.

This is a bug, and the wetpaint team said they will work on it.

I have since gotten around the problem by converting the diagrams to a jpeg file (e.g. using Microsoft Paint), and then uploading or embedding into the main body using Wetpaint Photo tool in the EasyEdit Toolbar. In this manner, the document does not need to be uploaded as an attachment."

That is an excellent idea. I have used that method many times to display fixed information such as charts, diagrams or even to give my page a different look, by using an array of fancy fonts. Make the information a jpg, png or gif file. For presentations, a Powerpoint slide show could be used and uploaded to DocStoc.com and grab the embed code and place that on my pages. This method is great for presenting a lot of material and keeping it all above the fold of a wiki page. To see examples of information presented in an image, I invite you to look at this site.
