Facebook News Feeds

Users who have linked their Facebook and Wetpaint accounts can now choose to "publish a story" about their actions to Facebook. This is a great way to advertise your site and let your friends know what you are doing on Wetpaint!

For a refresher on how Facebook Connect works, please see the release notes from our 4/21/09 release.

Here is how Facebook news feeds work with Wetpaint:

  1. Log in to a Wetpaint site and make sure you're also connected and logged in to your Facebook account.
  2. Add a photo, video, page, or discussion post to your Wetpaint site, join a new Wetpaint site or accept a compliment from another Wetpaint user.
  3. You can then choose to "Publish" your action to your Facebook wall and your friends' news feeds.
Facebook news feed dialog

NOTE: If you choose to "Write Something" that message will be appended to the news feed but will also become your Facebook status. The functionality of this part of the feature is controlled by Facebook, not Wetpaint. If you leave that box blank, the details of your action will still be published to your Facebook wall and your friends' home pages, but not to your Facebook status.

We are happy to unveil three new widgets that appear in the menu of Featured Widgets (accessible from the EasyEdit Toolbar).

Coming Soon: New and Improved Weekly Digest email

Beginning next week, the Weekly Digest email gets a facelift. Highlights include:

  • Member of the Week: The member who has added the most content to the site over the previous 7 days
  • Site Activity Trend: A simple plot line that shows the last 6 weeks' worth of activity on your site so you can easily see if momentum is up or down.
  • Numbers of discussion posts, members, photos and videos added over the last week
  • Spotlight on the hottest discussions and pages on your site over the last week
We will also send Weekly Digest emails over 7 days instead of all on Thursday. The day of the week you receive your Weekly Digest might change, but should then stay consistent from week to week.
