Changes

Key:  Additions   Deletions

This release’s features are all about collecting, organizing and showcasing your site’s best content.

Video Galleries

Just like photo galleries, you are now able to keep all of your site’s videos in one place, making them easy to find quickly and organize. Here’s a glimpse of the new gallery page.

You’ll notice that along with having them all in one central place, it’s now possible to feature videos. Featured videos are those that the site moderator/smoderator(s) think are worthy of being brought to “the front of the class.” They might be too funny, too adorable or too awesome to just let them blend in with the rest, but whatever the reason, it’s a great way to keep your site looking its best!

New Droplets a Droppin’

asdf Your community has been hard at work, it's about time someone else got to check out all the cool stuff you've all been doing, right?

Hopefully you're famility with Wetpaint Droplets already. We have added two new droplets in this release that let any Wetpaint member take their page with them wherever they go on the web. They're your opportunity to spread the awesomeness of your Wetpaint site onto other sites like Facebook, MySpace, iGoogle, and loads of other social networks.

The Site at a Glance droplet is a space-saver that combines the three existing droplets into one. Get the goodness of Picture This, Wiretap and Site Satellite all in one widget, but use 1/3 of the page space.

Site at a Glance Droplet
How many times have you made a page better, only to have your edit lost in the shuffle of a flurry of other member posts? Want your due credit for all the work you put into the site? Then the All Eyes on Me droplet is for you!

Whether you're using it to keep track of everything you do, or you just want everyone else to know

Let’s be real here, too. How many times have you made a page better only to have your edit overlooked by a flurry of other members’ posts on the What’s New page? If you’re at all like me, and it’s really ok to be I promise, you’d like some props for your work, right? Meet the All Eyes on Me droplet. Whether you’re using it to keep track of everything you do, or you just want everyone else to know just how much work you do, this widget is a cool way to monitor your activity.

The Site at a Glance droplet isn’t bringing you any new news, it’s putting all your news in one place (you’re really getting the feel for our theme here aren’t you?). The three existing droplets, Picture This, Wiretap and Site Satellite tell everyone all there is to know about your site activity, but what if you don’t want to clutter your page with all three? Site at a Glance rolls up all three of the existing droplets, as you can see by the upper navigation bar on the widget allowing viewers to see new pictures, discussions and activity. As Florence Kennedy once said, “don’t agonize. Organize.”

Organizing Has Never Been this Easy You’ll notice that the left hand navigation has changed, with the What’s New and Top Contributors drop down menus gone. Well, we got to thinking, “why should we get to decide where these things go? And for that matter, why don’t they look a little cooler?” So, with that come the newest content modules that you can put anywhere you see fit:

Our editorial team would be the first to tell you that tables are awesome tools to make pages look clean and organized. Knowing that, our developers started brainstorming ways to make Wetpaint sites easier to keep clean. The idea of being able to divide pages into more than one layout zones was one idea that we loved from the beginning. Essentially this means that users will have the ability to make two separate zones on their site within which they can edit away. Think of it as splitting the area that you can edit once you hit the ‘Easy Edit’ button into two. Then think of the organizational possibilities! Fill your right side column with those impressively informative content modules, pictures, or whatever your heart desires! For a better idea of what I’m talking about, take a look here:

Discussion Forums 2.0 Although we’re anticipating some amazing upgrades to our discussion forums in our next phase of upgrades, there are some notable changes coming with this release. Keeping with the theme of showcasing your site’s best content, moderators are now able to feature threads (denoted by a featured star next to the thread while moving it to the top of the threads list), making sure that the most heated and interesting discussions stay top of mind with all site members.

Another new addition is the ability to edit your own post after you’ve already posted it! Because, really, how many times do we get it right the first time?
