10/20/09 - releaseThis is a featured page

Not a flashing update, but here are some changes you might notice:

Droplets
  • The Wetpaint 500 ranking is no longer shown in the Site droplets. The Wetpaint 500 is on hiatus while we investigate a better ranking system.
Search this site
  • In order to prepare the new new layout changes, we have moved the 'Search this site' box to the top of the screen.
Email page/thread
  • The button to 'email page' has been removed because it was redundant. You can still email a page or thread by clicking 'Share this'.
Content Modules
  • No longer display uncategorized pages or home pages.
  • Dynamic content resizing. Now, when content modules are re-sized on a page, the module will grow smartly so the content in it will look better. This will be important when we launch the wider right rail with the upcoming layout changes.
Header ad/promo flip
  • We swapped the positions of the 728x90 ad unit and the smaller promo unit at the top of the page.

According to usability studies, search boxes are best placed on the left hand side (or middle):

Eye-tracking studies show that people tend to scan new webpages using an F-shape scan method, with the bulk of the eye movement on the left hand side of the page:

This pattern occurs, generally, because 90% of people are right-handed.

What's new during the new release?
I noticed that the "share" and "report a page" icons are on the right, but what else?
