According to wikipedia description of folkonomy:
"A folksonomy is a user generated taxonomy used to categorize and retrieve web content such as Web pages, photographs and Web links, using open-ended labels called tags. Typically, folksonomies are Internet-based, but their use may occur in other contexts. The folksonomic tagging is intended to make a body of information increasingly easy to search, discover, and navigate over time. A well-developed folksonomy is ideally accessible as a shared vocabulary that is both originated by, and familiar to, its primary users. Two widely cited examples of websites using folksonomic tagging are Flickr and del.icio.us, although it has been suggested that Flickr is not a good example of folksonomy." That is precisely why it needs to be kept as a main feature visible in the left hand menus at all times. The reasons you had to place it on your navigation menus originally are STILL GOOD REASONS. Adding a "Top Contributor" feature does NOT negate these reasons. THINK! |

1. The latest release of wetpaint "dropped" (like a bomb I must say) this critical feature as 0f 06/20/07
2. Many existing wetpaint sites use the standard navigation menu to refer to content types (articles, photos, videos, documents, links) then use the Popular Keyword Tags to cross reference the content types by subject keywords to provide a rich set of navigational "clues" for new users of a site. (i.e. like a card catalog in a multimedia Library) 3. Removing the "Popular Keyword Tags" is analogous to having your Card Catalog removed by the Librarian from your websites! Bummer indeed! 4. Wetpaint Central suggests they will remedy this blunder by displaying these Tags AFTER you search for something in the Search box. This is analogous to now asking you, the site user, to first ask the Librarian to see the Card Catalog in the back room to find content. How absurd. Please help me in getting this feature back. Post your comments to this Forum before it is too late. Thank you. |
