I want to be a mod eventually, I haven't been active for that long, but I plan to be. So please keep an eye on me in the future!

Do not worry, if you work hard and enjoy helping users, you could be a moderator here in no time. I cannot make any promises, but mods are people who show interest in helping users. Remember, you do not have to be a mod in order to help. That is what is great about Wetpaint Central. Anyone can contribute to helping new users and confused users!

If you keep up the great work you're doing, you'll get the invitation when you're least expecting it.

That's neat...what do you think the average time is for becoming a mod? So, how long it takes to become one?

That's cool! When I checked the members page, there are a lot of people who were promoted to moderators but never get on anymore. Why is that?

And wow...just two months? I though it would take longer than that.

Most of the moderators are people who work for wetpaint. So, they do not have to be active, because they do work for wetpaint and have other things to do on Wetpaint than check Wetpaint Central. However, they need an account in case they need to update pages.

If it gives you a better idea of how long it takes now, I've been working about a little under 4 months with at least one contribution every day. I have over 1,000 thread posts in those 4 months and still I am only a registered user. Really I don't need to be a moderator to help out, but lets be honest if all of us were given a chance to be a moderator tomorrow we would take it. Of course we all want the position for a different reason, most I assume just want power, I in my case feel some what left out when all of my friends on WPC except for like 4 have been moderators at one point or another.

Attributes of helping on WPC
These are needed for all questions on WPC.
1. Know that your answer is correct. Do not guess. If you do not know the answer - do not post a reply.
2. If an answer can be found on WPC in the help sections, direct the reply to that reference. That is most important. That is where the correct answer lies.
3. Do not get caught up in chatting in threads.
4. Do not answer for Wetpaint, meaning you think features will be in the next release. Only Wetpaint will know what those are. If you give a reply like that, you are guessing. Direct them to the suggestions page.
5. Do not get involved with complaints. If there is an answer posted by a Wetpaint employee, direct your reply to that page or thread without your comments pro or con to the complaint. This is hard to do, but must be done.
6. If an answer has already been given by another, there is no need to add the same information, unless it adds more to the information already supplied. Otherwise it has no meaning.
7. And most important of all. Know the FAQ section backwards and forwards. If you can do that, you will have the correct answer to give all the time.

How do you know the correct answer is given? Most often, you will be the last one to post a reply (with a possible exception being a thank you from the post originator).

If you follow these simple rules, you will be noticed. But most important of all, you will gain the respect of the community as a person who helps. And that is what it is all about. Title or no Title.

I think I'm the one who took the longest to get mod. It took me 7 months. I'm not proud of myself or anything, but to be honest, I wasn't really suprised when I got mod. I mean 7 months, it was really hard work.

And you guys have only been here like 4 months, you shouldn't be suprised you ain't mod yet. ^_^

CryingDove is right. It does not matter if you have a fancy position so you can go around saying, "I got a moderator position on WPC!" In truth, for a few days, everyone will congratulate you, but after a while, if you keep bragging, it gets old, and no one cares. WPC is for helping users, not gaining fancy positions. I would be happy to help here being a moderator or not.

Yeah, that's the same for me.

And I have another question....

Sometimes some of us reply at the same time and we don't know others have replied, and their answer is before mine. Then i feel really stupid. Is there anything I can do about it?
