This is what I did when I wanted to change my user name. Please read it all before you do this?
(1) go to your ISP and create a new E-Mail Address, That’s if you do not have another E-mail address to use.
(2) sign on to your site, as you always have, Then Invite yourself using the new E-Mail Address that you have.
(3) sign out, open your E-mails using the new E-Mail Address, and there you should see an invite to join your site, you may have to wait for the ISP to download the invite, if you do not see it then come out of Emails, Then open your Emails again.
(4) Except the invite to join your site, on the sign up to the invite make sure you enter the user name that you want, in the user name Box, fill the rest of the sign up invite.
(5) Close your emails, Sign into your site as you would normally do, so that you can see who as joined, and of course you will see that you have invited yourself.
(6) The next thing to do is make the member (Yourself) that used the new E-Mail a Administrator that give the new member (Yourself) all the rights that a creator as.
(7) Make Sure that the new you as Administration Rights, Now you can Cancel the membership of your old Self (The Creator) and the creator will not show up in the members list.

Hope this Helps I have had to find this out myself, There is another way but I could not get it to work properly
And another thing the Creator still exists and there is a way of getting the creator back if you want to, but to do that you must be a Administrator, So The Main Thing Is Make Sure The New You is a Administrator Before you Cancel the membership of the Creator, as above.
