Welcome to Wetpaint!

Hello and welcome to Wetpaint; here you can create your own site and run it however you want to! Just make sure to obey the regulations! The rules for running your own wiki are as follows. =D

  1. You can ban whomever you want; but you are not allowed to IP ban anyone. That makes it too easy for mods.
  2. You can say whatever you want on your own wiki; but to make sure that you don't swear; to help you we permenantly blocked all swear words. Espicially the reallly bad ones like cr@p.
  3. Was running your site too easy? To allow you to spend more time on your wiki we deleted the "promote" button and all assossiciated features making your site 80% more difficult to manage.
  4. Did you find that giving your registered users a list of what needed done to be too simple, quick and effective? So did we! In fact; we took action and deleted the To-do's feature!

As you have probably realised the above was sarcasm through and through. What you may not have realised is that the above was also truth, through and though.

Ladies and Gentlemen, every month Wetpaint is removing administrative features, moderator tools and userbase protection. This cannot go on. Throughout the year I have staged and will be staging more protests to make the voice of the people heard.

You can support the WP userbase in these threads by contributing an idea, a complaint, or even just an "Aye!" to show your support!

Together we can make this system work.

CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGE

I'm glad you came to visit my profile; my name is Marsden, I was the first adminstrator over at the ZSDW and am a frequent protestor at Wetpaint Central.

All aboard to see nothing happen with protests. The last one dealing with spammers, removed the ability to use other widget tool on our profile. What a great frigging fix. That wiped out my posture of teaching others.

That was their correction to spammers and redirects. I, along with others, offered up several solutions, to no avail.

I personally took the challenge to deal with redirects that were so difficult to get into the spammers profile to ban them before being redirected. I worked on a solution where I was never redirected and could ban those indiviuals with ease. This was offered to Wetpaint with the stipulation, that I would be personally responsible for exercising a cure for any of these spammers. That I could teach others how to deal with it, if they would RETURN that feature to our profiles.

Guess what....the other widget tool is not on our profiles.

But keep on voicing discontent with Wetpaint.

I am pleased to report that in the last year alone we have held several successful protests.

These have not only captured the attention of the highest levels of the Wetpaint administration, but have achieved the support of several moderators, including Baby_Apple, WalrusWorldStudios and Naru2008.

Firstly permit me to quote one of our successes from Jeremy,

“UPDATE: Development work on the spam prevention project is in progress. We are estimating that it will go live around the end of July or beginning of August. Thanks for your patience while we are working on this.”

Secondly,

Since our protest highlighted security concerns a Captcha security measure was introduced which reduced the number of spam bots per week from several thousand to less than ten.

I understand that some users may be frustrated that Wetpaint has removed some widgets available for profiles. I actively encourage all disgruntled users to start a new protest. I will personally invite each of the G25 to the work with any protests calling for more widgets for profiles.

So stoke up the engines, sound that whistle, ‘cause the Protest Train ain’t stopping!
